India Hayes

India Hayes is a British field hockey forward who has played for Reading Hockey Club's top team for the past decade, from U14s onward, winning the national plate competition with the U16s and representing Berkshire county from ages 13 to 16. At Wellington College she is known for her intelligent pressing as a center forward, applying pressure to force turnovers, and for her instinct to shoot or find a teammate whenever she's in the circle. India is pursuing a business degree in the US while continuing to build on her strong club and school hockey background.

ACHIEVEMENTS

I have been playing at Reading hockey club for the past 10 years. From u14s to now I have been in the top team at the club, with one of my years in u16s winning the national plate competition. I have also played for Berkshire county from ages 13-16, ending up beating every county most years.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

“As a forward at Wellington College, I bring both tactical and physical skills to the pitch. One of my main strengths as a player is my pressing. When playing centre forward, I know where I should be standing in relation to the ball and players, applying pressure to the player on the ball and causing them to either make a mistake or be tackled. Offensively, I focus on being in the right position to be able to receive the ball and play forward towards goal. When in the circle, my first thought is always to take a shot on goal, or look for a teammate to be able to make an effective pass to.
