About me as a player

From my sixth I started playing soccer for my local club, S.V. Huizen. We were always competing for the championship, but never won one. At S.V. Huizen I often played matches with a year above. Then when I was fourteen, I went to play for V.V. Hoogland, because I wanted to play for a better club. I played there from the U16 until now, the U19. In my first year at V.V. Hoogland, we first won the championship and at the end of the season, we got promoted for the second time. In the U17 we played at a very competitive level against some professional clubs. I was always a regular starter for my clubs and played an important part in our success. Now I also participate in matches for the U23. At V.V. Hoogland I developed very much as a player to become a very good defensive midfielder. My strong points are that I’m very technical, good passing and I have good vision on the pitch. Also my defending is strong and I can read the game very well.

Why college soccer?

I want to keep playing soccer while I’m studying, but in the Netherlands combining your study and playing soccer at a high level is difficult. That's why playing college soccer in the U.S. is a perfect opportunity for me. Also, the experience of going abroad and exploring new cultures will affect me in a very positive way. By playing football every day, I will develop much more as a player. The experience will also make me develop as a person and that's what I can use for the rest of my life.
