About myself

My coaches and teammates would describe me as tenacious, committed and a genuine team player.  Physically, I bring pace, well-developed stick skills, a strong reverse hit and high levels of strength and fitness. I am more tough-minded and resilient than many players my age.

I am observant, empathetic and a good communicator – always fiercely competitive with the opposition, but never with my team mates. I always put the team before myself and work hard to be a positive force for team morale.

Why I want to play hockey in the US

I believe that to make the most of my life I will need to make brave choices. My experience in Scottish Hockey has shown me the difference that high quality coaching and good facilities can make to my development, and it is clear that the coaching and facilities on offer in the USA are second to none.

I want to reach my full potential as a hockey player and I can see that competing in college field hockey would provide a superb environment for learning, including frequent opportunities to play against top-level teams and push myself to even higher levels of performance.

Playing and studying in the USA would also offer me the adventure of a lifetime – an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, make new friends and experience a totally different culture and way of life.

My college goals

I see a college experience in the USA as a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet new people and immerse myself in a different culture. My goals for my college experience are to make the most of all the opportunities that will be on offer.  In hockey, I want to be able to continue to develop my skills as an individual player and make a significant contribution to a college field hockey team.

Academic success has always been important to me, and I believe that the US academic system would provide an inspiring foundation for a career in research science, ideally focusing on sports-related aspects of human biology.
