Robin van Voorst

Personal Statement:

I am an all-round player, adept at shielding the ball, creating spaces, sprinting, turning away from my opponents, scoring, and contributing to the team's success. My love for the game and the desire to achieve my footballing dreams continue to drive me forward. I am determined to enhance my fitness and skills this year and try to remain fit for my season next year in the US.

On the field and in the classroom I am super focused on my goals, studying and playing college soccer would be a dream coming true, and I am determined to become an important part of a Men soccer program as a master's student. Additionally, I would like to learn to speak English like as it is my first language, and to immerse myself in American culture. Regarding my soccer preferences, I prefer a team that also likes to hang out outside of soccer. This creates a bond and leads to a good atmosphere and additionally to better performances, both as a team and individually. A coaching style that I perform well under is a positive style that gives you confidence and makes you want to work even harder.

Achievements:

My football journey began at a young age, where, despite being small, I excelled in using my body effectively, making it difficult for opponents to take the ball from me. Additionally, I had a remarkable ability to score goals, even with my head. As I transitioned to the striker role when I was 12, I became the team captain. I often positioned myself in the space between the center backs, making runs into open spaces—an ability I retain to this day.  I consistently showcased my abilities throughout my youth and participated in "Jonger Oranje" Talent Days for three consecutive years. I navigated through all the provincial/regional rounds, demonstrating my skills and determination, although I fell short in the national final stages. Throughout my journey, I succeeded at the school level and in club competitions. I became the all-time top scorer in my high school and secured championships with my school and regional teams. Even at the senior level, I made a significant impact, scoring crucial goals.

Last year, I scored impressively (9 matches: 17 goals & 5 assists). This success led to opportunities with the first senior team of my club DTS Ede (Fourth Tier of Dutch Soccer). To this day I am still in this selection, training often with the first team and playing my games with the second team or U23s.
